Livadohori


The delivery reports that the village was first built more westwards, betweencountry churches Saint Ioannis and Saint Vasilios. His initial name was Kefalohori. Some epidemic of cholera forced his residents to be moved in the current place. His final name emanated obviously from the extensive plain (meadow) which him surrounds. With this name "Livadohorion or Livatohorio" it is reported from 1355 in documents of M. Folotheoy of mount ATHOS. At middle ages it was considered by the bigger villages of Limnos (kefalohori).
Near in the Livadohorij was found the monastery of Ag. Pavlos, which the JD' and JE' of century it constituted seat of Metropolite Limnos, according to paperw the M. of Saint Pavlos of Athos 1436. This stay of Metropolite she was provisional, but the properties of monastery they acquired the name "Mitropolis", which they maintain up to today. Before the JD' of century seat of Metropolite it was Volcanos and perhaps for certain years the Kotsinos.
